Cats on Tuesday - Charlie the combat veteran!

An interesting discovery was made about Charlie's past this week.  Whilst browsing his vet's website I found this...

Yes it's him! In his secret past life before he came to live with us Charlie got shot!  When asked about the incident Charlie chose to remain enigmatic, merely murmuring about 'undercover ops', then adding 'if I tell you I'll have to kill you'.  He refused to comment about what had happened to the perpetrator of this heinous crime; if I know Charlie then they're probably still searching for the body...

Here's Charlie undertaking
training for his next mission
(possibly somewhere in the Arctic).

I am constantly shocked at the cruelty of people.
Poor Charlie - well, lucky Charlie, really . . . good vets and then his lovely forever home with you.

Agree totally with what Jabblog posted !

Thank you :O) Terrible at what people do isn't it? Why are air guns legal anyway?

What a horrid story ; that vet sounds like a truly nice concerned doctor though .... and Charlie is as beautiful as ever !..

Poor Charlie! It's no wonder he's got a chip on his shoulder, given that someone put a hole in his leg! I also second what jabblog said. I'm so glad he recovered fully and has such a wonderful home with you now, and that it doesn't seem to have interfered one bit with his sinister evil-doings. :-)

Charlie may not care to hear it, but he and our dog Josie have a lot in common, as she too was shot by some vile person in the hind leg at some point in her young life (you can read her story here. She was luckier than many, but not as lucky as Charlie, as the damage was more severe and permanent. Still, her life, like Charlie's, is so much better now.

If I ruled the world, ALL guns - even BB, air and pellet guns - would be gathered up, launched into space, and banned forever. Of course, I'd doubtless be shot before I could round up the first one... but I hate them with a passion.

Tanya has interesting past which our human didn't tell yet.

Silver Bunny: Charlie says he likes to look his best for you :O)

Laloofah: Poor Josie! Humans are a menace...

Deb: I can't understand it either... do they not imagine the pain they're causing or just don't care?

Sherrie: Thank you, and welcome to the cats weekly moment in the spotlight :O)

The Chair Speaks: Charlie is now spoilt rotten yes, we await Tanya's story!

This makes me jump to the ceiling so furious I am ! Shooting on a cat, or any living animal if it is not absolutely necessary give me murder instincts ! It's even more surprising because as far as I know only hunters are allowed to have a rifle and have to respect the hunting seasons. Your gun laws are very strict, just like in Belgium. Unfortunately there are always black sheeps !
Poor baby he must have suffered a lot ! Snow suits him very well ! just like Rosie !

I can't understand why air rifles aren't classed as dangerous weapons! Then again I suppose it doesn't matter how strict they make the laws, there will always be some insane idiot who finds his way around them. I'd like to shoot them up the backside with one and see how funny they find it...

I like the look on Charlie's face in the second photo, as if he was remembering what happened to the jerk who shot him. I'm glad he has recovered.

There are so many ways that people will be cruel to cats, it's disgusting. My sister once caught a full grown man throwing rocks at one of our cats in our yard. People who harm cats like that should be locked up, they're the same type who would abuse children, the disabled and the elderly, anyone who can't defend themselves.

Charlie would have reason to hide the body!

I had a cat in the family years ago named Tucker. Someone shot BB shells at him, and he had fragments embedded in the leg. The vet managed to get most of it out, and in time he was back to his old self again. Still, the sort of person who shoots at a cat... absolute dirtbags.

Completely agree William, bloody cowards...
