Black and White Wednesday...

This is for Black and White Wednesday hosted by The Long Road to China.

This was prompted by The Daily Shoot's 'Use a window or door as a frame for your image today'.  Sometimes it's the simple things that make a difference when you're having a bad day, here it's a friendly cat asking for nothing but affection (and cat treats!).

Black and White Wednesday and The Thursday Challenge

Wanting to get some photos of the last of the Christmas lights I set out with my minder (David - who was worried that someone might mug me for my camera.  Note the concern was for the camera, not the person being mugged...!).  This tree is decorated in Burbage every year, and just before Christmas they have a carol concert around it.  The lights on it have lovely colours, but because I'm perverse, and also on something of a monotone kick right now, I prefer the black and white.

We then did a quick detour via Hinckley so I could get some pictures of the High Street at night.  you can tell hideous sixties architecture at a glance can't you?  Do you see that second row of lights across the road?  Well that building on the left is where I work.  It was originally a house and used to be owned by a nineteenth century author called Charlotte Brame who was apparently the Barbara Cartland of her day.  Trivial fact of the day!

Black and White Wednesday

I bought this gold ornament in the sale at Lakeland yesterday!  It's very pretty and the things on top spin around with the heat from the candle.  

The new Royal Shakespeare Theatre...

Went to the members' preview evening at the RSC last night, had a chance to take a good look around the new building which I like very much.  Antony Sher and Richard McCabe (amongst others) appeared on stage in a short masque, with Antony Sher giving Prospero's final speech from The Tempest at the end of it.  It was almost worth falling over on the ice and hurting my hip and thumb to get there (thank you Stratford Town Council!!!).  The lighting wasn't very good for photography (the light in the downstairs bar was reminiscent of a scene from Dante's Inferno) but I got a few pictures.

Tealights on a Mirror in Black and White...

I took this for my Flickr group photo challenge of 'Symmetry'.  I thought it was going to be in colour as the tealight holders are lovely shades of orange, red and yellow, but it looks much better in black and white, oh well!

The Park in the Mist

Bradgate Park on a very cold and misty Saturday morning...  The park once belonged to the Grey family, of Lady Jane fame who became Queen of England for nine days before, literally, losing her head...

Eureka!

Finally! A photo of me and a cat! This is Posky being obliging, and he was rewarded with Pepper's tuna that she didn't finish.  I can now find something else to obsess about - probably trying to take a picture to put on a Christmas card... that or George Cloony :O)
