A little post about Ben...

Those of you who read this week's Cats on Tuesday post will know that we lost Ben this week.  He was our little house rabbit who had lived with us for six years (we think he was about 11 which is a great age for a small bunny to reach).  We originally got him and his partner Lucy from a rabbit rescue organisation where they'd been taken by their previous owner after she acquired a dog that killed her other rabbits and then decided to go after the last two.  Lucy died a few years ago and that's when Ben moved into the house with us.  He was a shy, gentle little soul who gave us (and his wonderful vet Aga) a nervous breakdown every so often when he had to undergo a dental - we were never sure if he would make it through the anaesthetic or not!  He used to like to sit cuddled up to Mrs P, or he could be found on his footstool next to the radiator (often with Posky trying to get on it with him).   Anyway, here are a few photos of the wee man himself.

This is the last photo we have of Ben - this is him
doing his 'An angry - I haz it' face...

Bad cat...
...and here he is being squished by Posky.

Ben and the pumpkins
Who could forget the way he stole the limelight from the cats
during the pumpkin photo shoot last year?

Or how he gamely joined in with the cats' 'Drama in the Garden!' productions.

He was a bit of a star.

Oh, I'm so sorry for Ben's passing! I missed the Tuesday post. :-(

What a cuddly character he seemed to be. I don't know how long rabbits typically live, but 11 does sound like a great age to me. I'm glad he had a good life with you!

(((Hugs))) from me and purrs from the boys.

Lucky Ben, to have had such a fun and loving home for the last half of his life. He definitely had star quality, and was obviously very lovable and much loved. I know there's a big, bunny-shaped hole in your lives right now, and send all of you love and comforting hugs as your hearts heal. xoxo

Oh Barbara, I am so sorry for your loss. I am a total "dog" person, but can relate to losing one...they are family members. I do really like that last photo of the two of you.

Blessings to you,

Kathy

What a darling little fellow, and I love the photos of him with cats. I had no idea cats and rabbits coexisted so nicely.
Thanks for sharing Ben's memorial photos on Pet Pride.

Ben was so cute! That's wonderful that you had him for so long! Love the cat squishing him--he certainly was a gentle soul all right!

What a sweet wee fellow Ben was. You must be feeling so sad. Thank you for showing us these wonderful photos. It's good to see how the cats and he got on fine together and also to see you! :o) Warm hugs.

I know you must miss little Ben a lot. Thank you for sharing his pictures with us. It looks as though he and the cats were friends. He must have been such a gentle little guy.
My daughter has 4 house rabbits and I know how serious the dental things can be. It's been touch and go for awhile with one of hers.
It's wonderful that Ben had some happy years with you rather than being killed by a dog.
