Scavenger Hunt Sunday

More sky...

Sky #1
Capture the Sky...
We were fortunate enough to have a truly spectacular sky yesterday morning
(a forewarning of the rain we experienced later in the day)
after a week of greyness.  I like silhouettes so I used them in both shots.
The first is the skyline looking down from the top of the road
we live in, and the second is some kind of seed-head and branches
that are visible over our garden fence.  I think I've mentioned before my
lack of botanical knowledge...
These are pretty much SOoC apart from some cropping.

David
Everyday...
No I'm not insinuating that David is an everyday object :O)
This was taken when we went out for lunch at the weekend.
It's the everyday things like this that are special for us
as we hardly see each other all week.
He works shifts, I work nine to five.
If it looks familiar it's because I tried to do it as an 'after'
shot of the photo I took of him when he still had his moustache.

Mrs Pod
Furry...
Well it had to be a cat.
I've been avoiding trying to take photos of the cats ever since the
shameful Annual Purrformance Review they gave me.
However, Mrs Pod took pity on me and allowed me to photograph her,
even though she's feeling very sorry for herself.
She had her ears poked and prodded at the vets yesterday
(leaving me £169 worse-off!!!!  I am so glad she is insured),
and has to go back next week to have them flushed out
and looked at properly.  In the mean-time she has drops and antibiotics to take.
Not a happy bunny (or kitty).

Millenium Stone
Life...
I really couldn't decide what to do for this one,
then I saw this rock when out walking with my camera
yesterday morning and had an Aha! moment.
(Nothing to do with dodgy eighties pop group).
Evidence of life in Elmesthorpe at the millennium!

Plant...
Blurred...
This plant lives in my garden.
I have no idea what it is.
Not a lot else I can say!

Mrs P also made me put this photo
of her up for 'Blurred' because she wanted
to show everyone (and Charlie in particular)
just how fierce she can be.
(She was actually doing a long, drawn-out
MAIOWWWW, but it looks good) :O)

You make me giggle - your commentary is so funny. That last shot - not sure if I should laugh or run!

Loving the sky shots! they are just stunning!

What fun photos and narrative. Your Mrs. Pod looks a lot like our kitty, who at the moment has her eyes covered because the lights are on and it's way to late for her. I like all of the green moss in your life shot too.

Oh wow, that second sky shot is simply breathtaking! You should frame it.

What a pretty sky shot.

Your blurred photo makes the cat look like it's growling.

I know it's been said but it's worth repeating. Your second sky shot is stunning. Great shot of your husband.

Your David is very good as a everyday object as you have to see him everyday ! Your life photo is nice because you realize that life has been before too, not only right now, today. History is life and not just something old, dusty thing.
I like your photos a lot. Furry is just like the way I would take a pic of my cat (my cat died :( Blurred and skyes are beautiful !!!!!!!

All of these captures are creative and your commentary was hilarious. I really enjoyed your post. The pic of David was my favorite. A very candid portrait. Well done!

I love your life shot! Also that is one fierce kittah!

Your first sky shot should be the cover of a mystery set in England. Mrs. P has me convinced she's scary, and Charlie should definitely watch out. I especially love the photo of David; his eyes are deep, like they see right into your mind.

Lovely, lovely skies!

Poor Mrs Pod! Sounds nasty! :o(

Do you prefer David with or without his moustache?

Thanks all for the lovely comments :O)
Barbara - At least I have the jacket cover sorted for my first novel! David would love to be able to see into the minds of others - especially the cats... And I hate to spoil her image but Mrs P is a real pussycat and not at all fierce (unless you're a vet) :O)
Jabblog - the tablets made Mrs P poorly with sickness and a very upset tummy so I'm not giving her any more. She's actually very good at taking tablets (unlike Charlie who is a complete drama queen).
Penny - Definitely without! :O)

Oh dear, I'm so behind on your wonderful blog again! You're just too prolific for me to keep up with these days, and it pains me to know I'm missing such great stuff on a daily basis!

I'll add my voice to the majority opinion that your sunrise shots are stunning, and the second one is particularly glorious. I too love silhouettes (and not just because I'm so happy I can spell that word, lol), and the seed pod plant makes for a great one!

David looks good w/ or w/o the 'stache. Is he happy without it and will he stay clean-shaven for you? :-)

I love your Elmesthorpe photo! Great subject matter for "life," and a classy way for that little village to announce their Y2K head count!

Poor Mrs. Pod, I must have missed the news about her ear problem. Our Josie can empathize with her vet visit trauma (and we can relate to your pocketbook trauma - is she really insured? Josie's not, we wish she were!) I hope Mrs. P is feeling better! Perhaps if she shows her fearsome face to the vet, they'll leave her ears alone next time. ;-)

Of course to me cat pictures are always the best lol ! Even if you get the first price for a landscape or a portrait !

Wow, all of these are wonderful!
The sky shots are my favorites I think. :)

Laloofah - David actually prefers his shrub-less look at the moment, he said after 22 years he needed a change! Mrs P is ok - still scratching at her ears a little, but I'm wondering if she really has to have this procedure on Friday. Will assess the situation then. Yes all the cats are insured - I had one cat who was a diabetic, it was a costly lesson in the benefits of insurance as she wasn't insured then. It's saved us a lot of money with Mrs P already as she has treatment for hyperthyroidism and it's paid for that and all tests, plus the cyst at the top of her leg, and now her ears! Hope Josie is ok - poor girl. By the way I was in Whittards on Saturday and they had Fennel, Aniseed and Licquorice Tea!!! I was appalled. Who would concoct such a disgusting mixture? I shook my umbrella at it in outrage!

Laloofah said...

Wow, 22 years with a mustache, I wonder if he even remembered what he looked like without one! :-}) (I'm hoping that will look like the cute mustached smiley face it's intended to!)

Poor Mrs. P, I'm glad she's doing better and hope she can avoid Friday's appointment. I'm sorry to hear of all her vet visits, but am glad the insurance saved your bank balance! Sure would have paid for itself with Josie! (She's doing great! We're still waiting for the biopsy results).

Oh my! When I started reading your sentence about the tea I thought they had Fennel AND Aniseed AND licorice tea, not Fennelaniseedlicorice tea all combined! Your worst nightmare (other than that marmalade I threatened you with, lol). I'm ROTFL at the image of you shaking your umbrella at it in outrage!! :-D Thanks for that great morning guffaw!
