More images from this week...

Three images illustrating my current obsession of light and shade, a self-portrait taken outside (when it was BLOWING A GALE I tell you, camera and tripod were in danger of taking off!).  The ring is genuine metal and plastic - If I'm wearing jewellery I like it to make a statement, I don't really do discrete :O)  And finally - nourishment for body and mind - a book, lapsang souchong tea, and dark chocolate (no there isn't any left).

The "obsession" is certainly bearing fruit ;-)

These are wonderfully dramatic shots!! And I am a sucker for a shot of coffee! :)

These remind me of photos my father and his photo club used to do in the 1940s. Light and shadow are fascinating.

These are very striking photos! I especially love the first photo of the shell (both pictures make the shells look like they're floating in space, very cool!) and the Buddha figure.

Great self-portrait too. Your weather sounds like ours - the wind's been horrific lately. Were you blown into the wall or were you clutching it for dear life? :-) Love the ring, and am wondering what colors are in it.

Is there very much that's better in life than a cup of tea, a good book and some vegan dark chocolate? Maybe, but I'd take some convincing. :-) Sweet cup and saucer, by the way!

Thanks :O)
Barbara - I could never have managed these images on film... and greatly admire those who do or did use it.
Laloofah - that's what David said about the shells too! And I am clutching the wall a)to stop my hair blowing all over the place, and b)there are bunny-huggers, and tree-huggers... why should walls be left out? :O) The ring is silver with a smokey grey perspex 'stone'. Will try and take a picture of it at some point. I love that ring.
I am with you completely on the tea etc. The cup and plate are part of the Henrietta range from Lakeland - which is a shop that sells everything you could ever want (and quite a lot you never even knew you wanted) to do with the kitchen and food... Every time we see one we have to go in - and I don't even like cooking very much! :O) http://www.lakeland.co.uk/

That David is one observant and savvy guy!

Your wall-hugging strategy paid off - I can't see a single strand of your hair blowing around! :-)

Your ring sounds beautiful, I look forward to seeing another photo of it sometime.

Thanks for sending the Lakeland link! How did you know I'm a total sucker for kitchenwares stores? :-) I do enjoy cooking, but not enough to explain my obsession with kitchen gadgets and stores that sell them. Our first trip to England, in 1996, introduced us to the electric tea kettle and the coffee press (which we hadn't yet seen over here). And I had an absurdly exuberant time in The Crock, where I bought a "Jack's Farm" pasta bowl & dessert plate and lugged them all the way home in my carry-on because I loved the goat and the rooster on them. :-) (The dessert plate has shown up in at least one of my food posts). I cherish them and the fond memories of our time in England that they evoke.

Another kitchen gadget addict! My half sister is the same, and as for my Mum... after she died and we had to clear her bungalow of all her things, we found gadgets a)that we never knew she owned, and b)couldn't work out what they actually did! LOL! I've never heard of The Crock but I see the address is in Cheltenham, which is only an hour or so from where I live... I did get some lovely stripey hand-painted pasta plates from Whittards (http://www.whittard.co.uk/) in the sales after Christmas. Just looking at their website makes me want to buy another teapot, although I've just noticed they sell some attrocity called instant tea. No, no, no!!!

That's too funny about your mom's mystery gadgets! What did you end up doing with them? Bet if you were able to post photos of them, some of your readers could probably tell you what they are and what they're used for!

Okay, I'm not even British (except for my DNA) and I think "instant tea" is an abomination! I can't believe they'd even THINK of selling such a thing over there. Does this mean you're boycotting their teapots? Because I found some fun stripey dishes on their web site (not sure if they're the same ones you got, but they're sure pretty and cheerful!), and love the teapot in that design! :-)

We had to get rid of the gadgets - they were too baffling for us to deal with! I'm still in shock at the instant tea thing... I expect better from Whittards of Chelsea - it's just not cricket... (the teapots are very nice though) :O)
