Hope everyone had an enjoyable and peaceful Christmas. The UK has been bashed about a bit by storms but we were some of the lucky ones who didn't get flooded etc. My heart goes out to those who were/are without power and heating over the last few days.
So back to Song-ography... I spent years doing what I thought I should be doing at Christmas, or what I thought other people expected me to do, and so now it's a novelty and a luxury to do exactly what I want. I'm at home with David and the kitties, we eat what we like with no pressure to have some full-on Christmas dinner if we don't want to. Obviously the cats would eat turkey until it came out of their ears, but I'm a vegetarian, so yah boo sucks. They won't eat nut roast so after tough negotiations we reached a compromise, and they get a smidgen of chicken cooked especially for them, then go and moan to the neighbourhood cats about how hard done to they are.
On Christmas Day I headed over to Bradgate Park and was amazed at how many others had the same idea. Some where drinking champagne at the top of the hill there, although they didn't offer me any - bah humbug. On Boxing Day I went over to Bosworth Battlefield, again there were a lot of people around, all who were obviously avoiding the post-Christmas insanity of 'the sales'. Yesterday I did actually venture out early to M&S with Cath and ended up buying a rather fab pink coat which I plan to wear today come rain, shine or gales.

I was listening to the radio on the way
home from Bradgate Park. Listeners
were texting in with their worst gifts:
porridge oats, jump-leads, and ant powder
seemed to be the winners!

We don't have a boxing day here, we don't even have a holiday on the 26th all shops are open anyway. Christmas is over definitively. It had been a very wet and stormy Christmas. We had some damages too, but not like in the UK !
Leaving tonight for London. All my rain gear is packed! Oh my, I do love that shot of the bike on the street on Market Bosworth. The lights i the background, the whole composition...I'm gobsmacked :). So nice to stay at home and just enjoy the holidays without expectations. Thank you for joining in on Song-ography. Well it sounds like all "tradition" aside you had a smashing Christmas! I'm still pretty traditional but I did alter my Christmas menu so as not to end up spending the day cooking and I actually took a nap on Christmas morning after everyone went home from the family breakfast gathering. I love that you fixed some chicken for your kitties. Ours got, ham. - Your photos are just fabulous and I love seeing them. Happy New Year!
Your photos with the bokeh especially are luscious. I enjoyed your account of your holiday so much. We open gifts on Christmas Eve, too. And my cats play with the ribbons and bows -- they take them off the gifts long before Christmas so we have bits of ribbon in every room. Thanks for sharing your holiday with us!

So glad you had a nice quiet Christmas like ours. We did, however, roast a turkey and all the fixings for a change. We'll eat leftovers forever and then use the carcass for soup.
I enjoyed visiting through your holiday details - we've hit that stage where we stay at home on Christmas, eat what and when we want, and it's pretty dang liberating. Love the slippers, the bike on the street, and those ear-rings - gracious!
