Scavenger Hunt Sunday...

Another Scavenger Hunting week is over - and for once I managed to plan ahead slightly for a couple of the shots.  Although Mac the knife is a joy to behold I am still missing my editing software that is on my PC as I have none on the MAC!!!   EEK!!!

Winter Wonderland...
Can I just reiterate that WE HAVE HAD NO SNOW!!!
This is vexing me intensely...
I had to drag this from the archives - in fact
it was taken on 19th December 2010.
This is far too long a time to not be able
to take snowy pictures.

M & Ms 11/366
Sweet...
M&Ms.
How did I do it?
I put the sweets in a dish, balanced a CD
case on two glasses over it, then put
droplets of water onto the case and
shot down through it.

Off to Mount Doom - be right back...
Hole...
Off to Mount Doom - be right back...

Flower in ice... 14/366
Frozen...
A flower frozen in ice.
What I discovered doing this was that it's quite difficult
holding a block of ice up to a lamp with one hand in an oven glove,
whilst you're trying to take a photo with the other.
It ended badly and I got wet.
I don't really like to talk about it.

Stacked up...
Jaffa cakes in a stack...
To be followed shortly by
Jaffa cakes in David's mouth :O)

Your frozen is just incredible!! I was thinking about freezing a flower, but only had one available and I didn't want to snip it off. Also love your hole. Love the star burst on the ring! Beautiful winter photo as well!

Wow! I love that sweet shot!

Oh my gosh Barbara! How did you even THINK to do that with the M&M's????? That is amazing! Actually, your entire set is amazing. And you are not alone, we have not had any snow here yet either. A pretty massive snow storm hit the U.S. yesterday and the day before, but it petered out before it got to Philly :(

I could sing the praises of every photo in this set, of course, but like Kathy I am overwhelmed by the utterly creative, utterly brilliant, and utterly beautiful M&M's photo! Talk about eye candy! :-) Really, that was incredibly clever, and reminds me a bit of a kaleidoscope. (And I am no fan of M&Ms or Mars Candy Company - they're vile in many ways. But you transformed them into something very pretty indeed!)

Love your winter wonderland shot too, and hope you get a perfectly photogenic snowstorm soon! We're in the midst of a long, snowless dry-spell too, but not as long as yours.

And the frozen flower - I can just picture you with your oven mitt, camera, and ice-embedded blossom! :-) Sounds traumatic, but the end result was worth it, IMO!

Thank you :O)

Kathy: I feel your snowless pain. I don't think we'll be getting any now - rats.

The M&M shot was something I saw when I was browsing the photo mags in the newsagent one lunchtime - it was the magazine specifically for Canon users but I can't remember the name of it - doh! They'd used Smarties for theirs and I then spent the rest of my lunchtime chasing around looking for some to no avail - is there a shortage? I think we should be told! Anyway, as a last resort I tried M&Ms for the colours et voila.

Laloofah: Because of the still small font of the comments I thought you'd written 'ice-embedded bosom!', the thought of which made me LOL! (That wouldn't be too far off the mark actually) :O))

Right-e-oh, so you come to a site in this link and find your favourites and then come to a site like this an look in awe - each one of your photos is such a clever and creative take. Thanks for the inspiration. Although if I had to choose one it would be that glorious first one.

Absolutely wonderful set this week. I love that idea for the sweet shot. Very creative and I learned something. Awesome! And you may have had to pull out an archive, but that tree is great! I love the size and shape of it. I also think it was worth getting your hand wet for the flower shot. I love it!

Oh my goodness! Simply fantastic job! Creative shots! That snow shot is awesome, too!

Two new techniques no less, and both so succesful.
I'll have to get some of those sweets and play around with Smarties.
Sorry if the frost shot damaged or hurt you.
Don't we all suffer for our Art :-)
Great enjoyable sequence.

LOL Barbara I can just imagine the difficulty you had capturing that flower encased in ice with an oven glove - brilliant and that m&m shot too. I must give that a go myself - we've smarties here that no one will eat. Jaffa cakes yum yum! they wouldn't last long in our house - come to think of it they don't last long in the mouth either.

I am SO going to try the M&M technique - thanks for sharing that. LOVE it! I'm perplexed because all I get is a little blue question mark where your frozen shot is, so I can't see it. Great job on this week's hunt!

Patti - Ah sorry about that, I think it was because I did some editing on it in Piknik and updated the image on Flickr so the HTML code for it must have altered. I've re-inserted it so hopefully it should be ok!

I LOVE your -sweet- shot! My dad used to be a photographer about 30 years ago, and did photos just like that, but with starfish. I keep the pictures and have one framed. They are what inspired me to get into photography!
