I must apologise for the lack of cat news last week - this was of course nothing to do with the cats but all to do with me being inept (as Charlie kindly pointed out). There has been quite a lot of badness from the feline four this week - Pepper (possibly still looking for the 'pigeon feather of power') did one of her famous flying leaps at a pigeon but thankfully missed it. Charlie scratched my finger (although that's such a common occurrence it almost counts as affection), and also took a dislike to someone's garden at the rear of ours and growled over the fence at it. But Posky... well, I can hardly believe it myself, but he managed to catch a bird and get into a fight!!! We were all shocked by this as Posky is such a big gentle bear of a cat and has shown no inclination to hunt anything for years (he maintains it was 'a mistake'), nor is he aggressive, so I'm wondering if Little Creep (a bruiser of a cat who lives up the road) jumped on him when he was going for a walk and tried to beat him up. Anyway Posky came home minus collar, quite a bit of fur (good job he's a hairy guy) and limping like Long John Silver. Mrs P has not so much been bad as peeved - we have discovered that the Kelmarsh Panther is in fact called Pod! Mrs P always thought she held the copyright on her name so has been stomping around all weekend yelling a lot.
The cats would also like me to add that they have been working on a few first tentative scenes for their next drama... (Mwahahahahhahahah... as Charlie would say).
Mrs P feels shame at being angry with the Kelmarsh Panther...
Posky feels such shame he disguises himself as a plant...
Pepper feels so much shame she has to
go into a witness protection programme and can only
appear in silhouette...
... although she does recover enough to go for a walk with David... :O)

Well a fight every now and again clears the air. Now you can all relax again!
ReplyDeleteThat was rather an eventful week ! My so said "Angel" of Arthur is also a bird catcher ! I think that's why we don't have birds flying over our garden. Rosie is more into mouse hunting and unfortunately brings them home dead or alive !
ReplyDeleteROTFL @ your "shame" series of photos and captions! (You just keep taking witty to a whole new level!) Posky's plant disguise is really quite effective, and Pepper's silhouette is striking. And I adore the photo of her romping ahead of David!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Mrs. P, I was quite certain that she and she alone had rights to the name Pod. In fact, I was wondering if she shouldn't be suing Steve Jobs and Apple® for copyright infringement. How shocking that not only is another cat using the name, but that it would be none other than the Kelmarsh Panther! And now, of course, everyone will assume that he and Mrs. Pod shared some nuptials, when they should have been sharing a copyright attorney instead.
This past week saw much weirdness in our neck of the woods too, among both human and non-human critters. For instance, our dog Josie caught and killed a vole last week and brought it to us on the patio - horrors! Because of her past, she often acts feral and going through the motions of hunting isn't uncommon for her, but very rarely does she do any actual harm! Her mugshot should be next to Charlie's in the Rogues Gallery. She knows no shame either. Anyway, we attribute all of last week's lunacy to, naturally, the full moon.
I'm so gratified to hear that the crew is taking some time away from being violent, angry and ashamed (or not) to work on their next drama, and eagerly await Opening Night!
Lovely kitties!!
ReplyDeletePearl
Things have been rather adventurous lately for you all! We hope Posky has no lingering injuries or problems from his fight. We're sure he merely must have been defending himself, as is his right. :-)
ReplyDeleteHere's to a quiet upcoming week. LOL.
We hope posky is alright!! and thanks for the update on everyone!
ReplyDeleteLove the cat news. I was thinking too that it must be due to the full moon of last week.
ReplyDeleteWhat an eventful kitty week in your household! I hope the storm has passed and everything will be peaceful again and we can all look forward to the next kitty drama. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs to everyone with a special one for Posky.
I'm with Charlie, 'what's shame?' Busy feline happenings at your place.:)
ReplyDeleteshame is not present in cat-ionary. you kitties have been busy lately.
ReplyDeleteEmma and Buster
And I have doctor's orders not to even come close to a cat! But I can enjoy the photos :-)
ReplyDeleteWell I think Charlie is a sadly misjudged animal! No-one who looks so absolutely beautiful could possibly be as monstrous as you depict him. Look at that innocent wee face! If any lawyers are to be called in, I'd say they should be suing you for defamation of character!
ReplyDeletePenny
Thanks all :O) Laloofah: Pod was in serious disagreement with Apple as they said if they could use her name they would put her photo on every i-pod. Of course they failed to do this but mollified her by naming the i-pad in honour of her paw ;O)
ReplyDeletePenny: Charlie relishes his role as 'cat with attitude', and that innocent-looking face is part of his plan!! He tried to bat Mrs P on the head this morning to get her food. He also likes to stand on the stairs looking 'sweet' until you put your hand through the banisters to stroke him... then he nabs you!
LOL
ReplyDeleteMy cousin-in-law used to work for the agency that handled Apple's advertising and headed that account, and he's the one who came up with the "iMac" name. He had no idea what he was starting. Don't think he gets any more remuneration for it than Mrs. Pod does, though. ;-)
