Your B&W pictures are brilliant. I really must get to grips with my camera next year and get out taking proper photos. Do you think you could e-mail me a copy of the B&W picture of our D at the bottom of your page? Last picture I have of the two of you is 15 years old!!
Funny thing; I just realized your husband's name is David. We're Barbara and David too. I never hear of a Barbara less than around 60; seems the name went out of favor quite a while ago. My David has short white hair which was black when I met him 36 years ago. Hmmm, what does that say about me?
Fancy that, another Barbara & David! I'm in my forties and I was the only Barbara in my school, I think I was named after a sister of my Dad's who died when she was a child. I quite like my name, get called Bee quite a lot! (I never, ever answer to Babs!!!). As for the hair... well I have to colour mine to hide the 'executive glints' as my hairdresser puts it. I totally blame David for this, whereas his hair loss is nothing to do with me :O)
Catching up as usual! I love your photographs and I love reading about, and seeing, your cats! Pepper sounds very like our Molly! She's a girl who lets us know what she wants, too, very vocally, and is very bright! The coloured umbrella on the black and white photo is so good! I wish you could visit and do some photography training with me!
Thank you all for your kind comments. The photo was taken using my 18-55mm lens, with a Hoya Close Up +4 filter on it (I bought it from a Flickr friend). Penny, I would love to come visit with you, all that lovely snow (and the vegan food) :O) A lot of the time with my photos it's trial and error, I do get lots of ideas and tips from photography magazines and Flickr though.
Barbara, I just got some extension rings in the post, which I ordered on eBay (I'm a bit of an eBay novice, so was surprised when they turned up!) I'm going to try some close up stuff with them, as I'm getting really frustrated with my 17.5 - 45mm lens, which is not focusing closely enough for what I want. I have an Olympus E520 which uses the 4 thirds system, so you double the size to get the old size, if you see what I mean. So 17.5mm is the old 35mm and, obviously, 45mm is 90mm. I think I've explained that correctly... Penny
