Patriotic...
Fabulously British
(and also fabulously freckled) :O)
(Thanks to David for taking this, even though
he was losing his temper with my camera!)

View from Above...
I already posted this but it seemed to fit well with the prompt.
Helen looking glam sitting on a tree root whilst
... and for the same prompt.
This was the view from above when David and I
were at the Hollowell Steam and Heavy Horse show
in Northamptonshire today.
(This is why I always keep my wellies in the boot of the car).

Mosaic...
Well not a real mosaic,
more a 'heavily pixelated photo of
a ferris wheel against a blue sky'.
Now that's a real mosaic.
Taken at Fishbourne Roman Palace in Chichester.
The Palace dates to the 1st century AD, around thirty
years after the Roman conquest of Britain. The mosaic dates
to the second or third centuries AD.
Raindrops.
Another repost from earlier this week,
but hey, if the JPEG fits...
... and another 'tiny' shot.
Here's a tiny steam engine
from Hollowell.

They apparently had to be eaten
quickly after the photo was taken
'in case they went bad'.
(Yes of course David).

Fabulous collection! Love those raindrops and cobwebs. I have YET to capture something so lovely.
ReplyDeleteAll very beautiful pictures ! I notice again, wherever I go the Romans have been there before me ! Last trip : they also left lots of mosaic in Tunisia !
ReplyDeleteIn the words of Monty Python... 'What have the Romans ever done for us...?' :O)
ReplyDeleteKathy - I think you've captured many just as beautiful images, so I must beg to differ :O)
ReplyDeleteI like your vibrant and tiny colorful photo!! View from above is beautiful and patriotic is cute.
ReplyDeleteLove your patriotic, such great UK pride! And that pixilated picture is such a great take on mosaic!
ReplyDeleteI covet those earrings! And not out of any patriotism, either, but only because they're just smashing! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe ferris wheel mosaic is very pretty and creative. As ever when I see something like the Roman mosaic, I find myself trying to envision ancient peoples doing all that painstaking, time-consuming work it took to create something like that. Or ancient mosques with their amazing mosaic work. Amazing! I wonder if they'd be pleasantly surprised that so much of their work still survives (and is appreciated and enjoyed today), or if they expected nothing less?
The tiny steam engine is pretty cute. And that man of yours has a sweet tooth like BW's! Another thing they have in common. An unhealthy love of cars and candy. :-)
Nukke and Tamar - thank you :O)
ReplyDeleteLaloofah: The earrings were £2.50 from ASDA (Walmart), and I bought them specifically for that shot, although I'm wearing them today for no other reason than I want to get my money's worth out of them.
I think the Romans were probably arrogant enough to assume anything of theirs would last forever :O)
Yep David is watching the British Grand Prix as we speak (and probably snaffling something unhealthy at the same time). I don't have a sweet tooth, although I do love chocolate. But that doesn't count as a 'sweet' as a) I like the non-sweet dark stuff not meant for amateurs, and b) it's one of the main food groups as far as I'm concerned.
Great set, I loved your tinies!
ReplyDeleteLOL - "not meant for amateurs!" :-) It was our British friends Iain and Sophie who introduced us to the "real" chocolate, the dark, bitter goodness that's something like 85% cacao. And we've never looked back!
ReplyDeleteThose earrings were a great bargain, you won't have to wear them too often to get your £'s worth! (And when you're tired of them, you may send them my way! I'll happily shill for Great Britain!) :-)
Won't you get rocks thrown at you or something for sporting the wrong red, white and blue? :O)

ReplyDeleteGreat set! The shot of the droplets of water is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThose raindrops are incredible! Wow!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely comments :O)
ReplyDeleteSuper Set.
ReplyDeleteYour Patriotic earrings are cool and I'm not British!
Loved the Tiny Shots - Those raindrops and webs are awesome and that Train is pretty cool as well.
Both Mosaics were really neat too.
Okay I loved your whole set.
Great photos. Love your tiny shots!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the tiny steam engine ... great shot! all of your shots were lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love that Roman mosaic!
ReplyDeleteAnd I take it that wellies are an English affectation?
Thanks all :O)
ReplyDeleteWilliam - I'd say that wellies (or Wellington Boots), rather than being an English affectation, are an English necessity :O)))
Wonderful photos...I really love the tiny shot!!!!
