Hardly had time to pick up my camera for the last week or so, so I made the effort to go into Leicester today to get some shots of the Cathedral. There has been much excitement in and around the area because of the discovery of the remains of what could be Richard III just across the road, and an ensuing increase in visitors which can only be a good thing. It's a fascinating building that only became a Cathedral in 1927 but the original church was begun by the Normans 900 years ago.

A perfect B&W photo! Great composition!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot!!! What a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteAmazing capture. Monochrome makes it more beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anjali,- B&w is perfect for this beautiful shot, inside the church!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend:)
This is such a beautiful cathedral, and I'm fascinated by the idea that the remains could be those of Richard III. I read this morning that whoever it is had a metal arrow in his back and skull injuries. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your photo. Truly extraordinary. The filigreed cutouts on the carvings are so delicate and ornate. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOne feels the centuries looking down upon one. I like the angle you ave used - not easy in a busy cathedral.
ReplyDeleteVery nice picture ! I never use black and white, I always prefer colors.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The details stand out so well in black and white.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shot! Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteI feel like an echo in here (appropriately enough for a comment on this cathedral photo!), but this is a beautiful shot! The intricate wood carving is amazing (wouldn't want to be the one who has to dust it, though!), and I love all the little lamps illuminating the way. And look at that ceiling!
ReplyDeleteI love the B&W, it really does highlight the details, but I'll bet that stained glass window is really something in color.
I've been keeping up with the Richard III story, though I haven't seen anything in the news lately, so don't know if they've learned anything definitive yet. Sure sounds like they may have found his remains at last, though!
