Shades of Autumn - Orange

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge

And so we reach orange, my enthusiasm for which has spilled over into my choice of text colour in this post. Apart from being the name of my mobile phone provider it is one of my favourite colours of the autumn, well of any time really, and one which I can at least wear.  Some autumnal colours do me no favours at all - certain yellows or reds  can make me look as if I'm auditioning for a part in the Adams Family, but orange (in moderation, unless I want to be mistaken for an excitable pumpkin) is good!  And talking of pumpkins - I have a bit of a pumpkin obsession going on so have included a few images of them in various guises here.

By the way, my favourite tip for making your autumn photos zing with colour is to alter the white balance on your camera to shade or cloudy to boost the reds -simple but effective.

  3. I especially love that reflective last one - but they're all beautiful! Your photos make me pine for autumn very much.

  4. Pumpkins are few and far between around here, so we have to use oranges (which we also have to import ...) to get that kind of orange quality. This year we have had so much rain that our orange leaves have turned a sickly brown. No use as a photographic subject at all.

  10. The lettering on your page comes up huge on my screen.
This is a pumpkin post and a half: so much lovely golden colour. I was interested in your white balance settings. I reckon my camera must alter it automatically as the reds do actually 'zing'. Besides, I don't usually fly over Turkey :-)

  14. I love that you love orange and pumpkins, because I love them both as well. I adore Autumnal colors and the season itself, and have been photographing our lovely fall surroundings like mad lately (now I just need time to put them in a post!)

I love every photo in this bunch, most especially the first (which is hauntingly beautiful), the pumpkin photo on the left ~ the two terra cotta urns in the background go so charmingly with the pumpkins ~ the tree with its inviting carpet of fallen leaves, and the delightful photo of the glass pumpkin tealight holders, which I am TOTALLY coveting!! I want at least a dozen of those charmers!

I get many more views on my posts than comments, so please if you drop by, stop and say hello. Otherwise I'll start getting paranoid and neurotic, and worry that nobody likes me... sniff sniff...
