This was prompted by The Daily Shoot's 'Use a window or door as a frame for your image today'. Sometimes it's the simple things that make a difference when you're having a bad day, here it's a friendly cat asking for nothing but affection (and cat treats!).
This framing works well, great photo. I was thinking of you yesterday when I put a photo of my cat Kali on my blog,,,M
ReplyDeleteI love the framing here and it looks great in black and white.
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful photo. I love the idea of framing your photo subject(s) with a doorway or window, and also love that you did yours in silhouette. And I love that I spelled silhouette correctly on the first try. :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope your bad day got a lot better!
Beautiful silhouette B&W photo. You captured inside of the feeling!
ReplyDeleteLove the silhouette - so interesting!
ReplyDeleteI love this shot. :)

Thanks all - I do like this one, sometimes you just manage to catch the mood you want...
ReplyDeleteLaloofah - I'm impressed I knew you'd spelled silhouette right :O) Weird word... and yes I'm fine now, went to the hairdressers where the wonderful Hayley (part fab hairdresser, part psychologist, part stand-up comedienne) made me feel a whole new woman...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo! Who's the human? I like the idea of framing. At the moment I'm loving bounced flash, but this might be my next 'thing'! Maybe even a combination of the two...
ReplyDeleteHad to call the family through to see Posky in guerilla mode! Wonderful!
And good to know more about you. We share a love of reading and gingerbread cupcakes from VCTOTW and a propensity to snore when sleeping on our backs! :)

I was that human! I put my coat on as it gave a better silhouette than just top and jeans, so there I was running up and down the hall getting hotter and hotter, setting the camera, dealing with cats, running back, re-setting the camera... it's not for wimps this photography lark :O) I want an off-camera flash! I do prefer natural light if poss but I could have hours of fun with one... I would also like an Epiphanie camera bag... lovely, lovely things...http://www.epiphaniebags.com/ And it's good to know I'm not the only noisy sleeper - David just whimpers... it's a bit sad really :O)
ReplyDeleteA very cool shot!
ReplyDeleteI love this photo, the framing is perfect, especially with the cat (or course :-)

I enjoyed the backstory of this photo! You look so nonchalant, leaning in the doorway like that - you made this photo look easy! Who would know you were actually working up a sweat to get it just so?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Hayley turned your day around, and wish I'd gone to her today! My own hairdresser (that I've gone to for a hundred years) gave me a new haircut today that I wasn't wild about and then was snarky with me when I told her I wasn't wild about it. To add insult to injury, she'd hiked her price $5 since my last appointment! I want a Hayley clone.
Laloofah - A good hairdresser is worth their weight in gold. I followed (well stalked) Hayley from the last hairdressers she worked in. I was bereft when she left there and had resigned myself to having hair like a muppet for the rest of my life, when one day I was in a shop and saw her walk past outside. I left my things with the cashier and ran up the street after her to find out where she was now working. We still laugh about it. She's a great person and a brill hairdresser! This is a video of the wonderful Scott Bailye salon, Hayley is the one with the black top with slashed, short sleeves. For that plug they should give me a free cut and colour :O)

That is too funny! How fateful that you would happen to catch sight of Hayley out the shop window. I wonder what your cashier thought of you abandoning your purchases and bolting from the store like that? LOL! The next time I find myself in the UK (dream on, little Laloo!) I will have to make an appointment with Hayley. She's probably impossible to get into, so I'll pretend I'm you. I'm sure she won't notice the different voice if I say things like, "Crikey, but me formah 'airdressah buggered up me 'air! Bollocks." (You'll have to coach me. LOL!)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the video - I could listen to English accents of all kinds all day long, I really could. And Hayley looks like she's a hoot! I noticed her right away (and then again later), but mostly I was distracted by the poor client who appeared a couple of times in the video who had these enormous dark circles around her eyes (not makeup). Poor thing needs some sleep or veggies or something!
Lisa's not a bad hairdresser, but her cuts are inconsistent. She's given me haircuts so bad that make me want to wear a bag over my head for 6 weeks, and cuts so good I wish I could somehow shellac them so they'd never grow out. My friend Robyn goes to someone else here and has the same experience. This place is grim when it comes to finding a good hairdresser... in 19 years I've only seen 3 women with hairstyles cute enough to ask them where they got it cut, and one was a tourist and the other one had it cut in Denver. Lisa's my 6th hairdresser since moving here, and she's the second best (the best one moved to Nashville!) Really, I should just let myself turn into Cousin It!
I'll be happy to email Hayley and tell her you're recruiting clients for her from across the pond and that a free cut and color for your trouble is definitely in order. :-)
Cor blimey Mary Poppins! Luv a duck me old cocker but I thought wot you 'ad turned into Dick Van Dyke then! :O) (Enough bad accents - Ed). Now I know the rarity of good hairdressers around the globe, I must tell Hayley she can never, ever retire (I had to grow my hair long when she was on maternity leave). And I am loving Cousin It's shades... By the way Scott has done Victoria Beckham's hair and thinks she's fabulous - I try not to hold it against him.
