Laloofah: Your overt enthusiasm for our ye olde englishe buildings is quite understandable, it does us good to be shaken out of our complacency at being surrounded by so much history. Charlie himself dates from the time of the Norman Conquest ;O)) Not sure I should be encouraging you in that Independence Day lark, it's a tad insulting to us Brits, but then again we did export the Beckhams to you - which is what Pepper would call the law of kharma in beautiful action :O)) I always have to think about about which century is which too and remember to add one to the number to get the name!Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07769051642180104391noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3569437033576804466.post-27278772159850626262011-07-04T00:34:30.836+01:002011-07-04T00:34:30.836+01:00I love the x-ray shot. I mean, I know that the 17th century is the 1600s, and the 18th century is the 1700s, but I goof it up anyway. And I adore the lovely shopping village entrance and the two photos of the gate in the wall and the "secret garden" and alms cottages behind it. Wish I could step into those photos. So pretty! And now I'm going to go all stereotypical American on you (well, it's IS Independence Day weekend, lol), and go on about the historic buildings there and how plentiful, well preserved and impressively old they are! I mean, 17th century cottages! (And I realize there are many buildings much older than that - we stayed in a lovely pub/B&B in Devon that was built in 1327!) I really admire the wonderful care that is taken of so many of England's old buildings, and love that they are still being lived in, shopped in, used and loved in the 21st century.

If you're in the throes of moving and only have time to put one possession in your new digs, a "RELAX" sign is a perfect choice! Can't blame you for wanting to make off with it. Maybe your friend can get you one of your own as a housewarming gift when it's your turn to move! :-)

And I can't neglect dear Sir Charles ~ whose amusingly haughty toy-ignoring photo I remember from before and enjoyed its encore presentation ~ lest he become angered by my oversight and seek out vengeance. You're too cool for school, Charlie!Laloofahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07256023593175821427noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3569437033576804466.post-40275738672826724322011-07-03T12:04:34.468+01:002011-07-03T12:04:34.468+01:00I like the entrance to the shopping village and th...I like the entrance to the shopping village and the cottages look very story-book - lovely photos:-jabbloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12176958811589489979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3569437033576804466.post-70431233483011162102011-07-03T10:37:10.471+01:002011-07-03T10:37:10.471+01:00Really terrific shots!
